In May 2016, the Daren Ganga Foundation (DGF) launched its prestigious Daren Ganga Cricket Academy (DGCA), with the primary aim of fulfilling one of its strategic objectives as a charitable organization. The 2016 programme at the DGCA was a tremendous success and subsequently we began coordinating the 2017 programme.

In March, this year, we were proud to launch the Daren Ganga Cricket Academy (DGCA), 2017 edition for boys and girls of all ages, interested in the game of cricket. Cricketing genius, Brian Lara is expected to visit and address attendees to share his wealth of knowledge with participants during this year of the DGCA programme. The DGCA 2017 programme, which commenced on March 3rd will run until December 15th, 2017. The sessions are scheduled for Friday afternoons at the Naparima College Ground, San Fernando. The DGCA continues to focus on cricket development, nutrition, strength and conditioning by utilizing a variety of teaching methodologies and capitalizing on cutting edge technology.

Young student cricketers participate in the programme conducted by highly qualified, well-respected and knowledgeable coaches, some of whom are former national players. The cricketers participate in both indoor and outdoor sessions, supplemented by classroom sessions with the DGCA coaching DVD, bowling machines and pitch vision cameras.

Trinidad and Tobago and West Indies cricketer, Samuel Badree has endorsed the Daren Ganga Cricket Academy and was present last year at a training session where he left an enduring impression on our young cricketers.  The DGCA allows students the opportunity to showcase their talent whilst having fun amongst their peers in fun, interactive sessions. In June 2016, they had the exclusive opportunity to meet and spend the afternoon with some of the top players of the Caribbean Premiere League 2016.   Furthermore, in December, 2016 our young enthusiastic cricketers were taken to Tobago, where they competed with young aspiring cricketers like themselves during a series of competitive matches against players in Tobago.  Thus far, our 2017 cohort has also enjoyed many opportunities for development and exposure through well-coordinated training session, regular matches against local clubs and an exclusive training session with the Trinbago Knight Riders at the Queen’s Park Oval.
